Walnut Creek

In case you don't know this about me, I was born in Walnut Creek and lived there until I was 14. After Brent graduated from BYU, we lived in Walnut Creek for 6 months before coming down to Southern California. Walnut Creek was, and still is (in my opinion), one of the most beautiful, perfect places to live. (That might explain why it is so darn expensive!) Anyway, I wanted to take the kids there to see some of the things that were important to me as a kid. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time to visit some of the places that I wanted (Heather Farms park, Mt. Diablo, or the Oakland Temple) but we did go to the most important place: 33 Comistas Court.

Our house was great, the perfect party house. Better yet was the yard. It was known as "Livingstone National Park" because it had so much to offer: a pool and spa, trampoline, swingset, paved circular sidewalk (perfect for bicycyle races), full size grass volleyball court, half basketball court and pinball machine. It was perfect for kids. No wonder my mom could handle having 8 kids - she would send us out to play and there was plenty to keep us occupied.

If, for some reason, the backyard got boring, we could walk a couple hundred feet to Shell Ridge, protected open space full of beautiful oak trees. We took the kids for a hike up the path behind our house.

Who WOULDN'T want to hike here?

Looking down on Walnut Creek. Notice how green it is.

If you get tired on the trail, you can sit on one of two benches. They were placed there almost 20 years ago by my older brother. It was his Eagle Project.

I love going on walks with Brent.

I loved that house, too. Lots of fun memories! How fun that you could visit your "home".

i can't believe that is where you grew up. i have heard many descriptions before but that was beyond my imagination. no wonder you feel claustrophobic here in long beach. but i'm glad you're here.
